Blue Bird of Happiness

There is a new study making the news that people aren't happy, which probably isn't news at all to people who go from job (if they have one!) to family duties, to community duties. Who has time to be happy, when you're trying to make sure the laundry gets done.
Happiness is a different thing from contentment, though. You are content if you are doing the best you can and riding the highs and lows of life with a sense that you cannot truly appreciate the highs without having experienced some lows. That is what makes life rich. Today, try to resist the culture that tells us that if we are not happy there is something wrong with us.
Today: sing your favorite song aloud. Shouting your song into the universe affirms who you are. Namaste!

  1. And "they" say - the pursuit of happiness is the source of all unhappiness - perhaps buddha or another guru. Internal peace is perhaps a better goal.
    Namaste to you!!

  2. Internal peace is perhaps what we should aim for, you're right. Even as I write this, though, I'm thinking what a huge thing to attain that would be. Namaste and peace.
